What it counts and prices
The mechanical takeoff picks up supply registers with their boots, return grilles, bath, dryer and kitchen exhaust terminations, range hoods, thermostats, and flexible or round duct runs by the linear foot. Each line points back to the sheet and spot it came from.
A line you confirm is matched to a mechanical assembly whose materials are priced from Home Depot listings pulled for your metro, each with its store, product and date. Where your metro has no local pull for an item yet, the line says there is no safe match and you price it on site; it never gets a made-up number.
What it does not price
Equipment is listed but not priced. A furnace, air handler, condenser or similar unit shows up as a line with no safe match, because the right unit depends on the load and your supplier, not a store listing. Carry your supplier's equipment quote as its own line.
Assisted means there is no published accuracy number for this trade yet. Review every line against the sheet it cites before you price it.
How to bid a job that has mechanical in it
If you do the mechanical work yourself, pick HVAC / mechanical on the upload page, $75 per trade or one of your plan takeoffs.
