Where does Portravo work?
Built for contractors across the U.S., with pricing tied to your metro.
Enter your ZIP code during setup. Portravo identifies your metro and can retrieve local Home Depot prices. Each material uses a local price when one is available; unmatched materials use the dated Portravo benchmark with a labeled regional adjustment where applicable.
Your ZIP code sets the market
Setup accepts U.S. ZIP codes and identifies the corresponding metro. Local price retrieval can take time, and coverage varies by material and market. You can begin reviewing quantities while pricing is being prepared.
The material catalog covers lumber and sheet goods, electrical, plumbing, drywall, insulation, fasteners, concrete, roofing and paint. It is a focused residential and light-commercial working set, not every product sold by every supplier.
Read the basis on each material line
A retrieved local Home Depot price can price a matching material in your metro. When no matching local price is available, Portravo falls back to its authored benchmark and applies the regional cost index where applicable. Indexed lines are labeled so you can distinguish them from local prices.
One estimate can contain both local prices and indexed fallbacks. The source, location and as-of date explain the basis of each line. Neither a retrieved price nor a benchmark reserves inventory or locks a supplier quote for your job.
Use your own crew costs
Labor uses the rate card you enter. Replace the starter rates with your own loaded hourly rates before your first real bid, wherever you work.
Check productivity, access, overtime, travel and job conditions separately. A local material price does not establish the labor hours or total installed cost for your crew.
Before you bid in any market
Use these checks for every project location.
- 01Confirm the project's metro and replace the starter rate card with your own loaded hourly rates.
- 02Read each material's source, as-of date and any indexed label; local coverage can differ within the same estimate.
- 03Get written supplier quotes for the highest-cost lines and confirm specification, availability, tax and delivery.
- 04Resolve benchmark fallbacks and other allowances before presenting the estimate as a firm bid.
No account needed. Upload your plan PDF, pick the trades and pay $75 per trade; the takeoff starts right away. Your first takeoff has a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Upload plans and start- Can I use Portravo anywhere in the U.S.?
- You can set up Portravo with a U.S. ZIP code and use your own labor rate card. Available local material prices depend on the metro and item; materials without a matching local price use a dated benchmark fallback, with regional adjustments labeled as indexed.
- Does every material have a local price?
- No. Local price retrieval can be incomplete or still in progress. The estimate can mix retrieved local prices with benchmark fallbacks, and each line shows its source and date. Confirm supplier pricing before committing to a bid.
